I don't think so. I thought the whole point of a seperation period was for both parties to work out whether or not a marriage can be saved or if divorce is definitely in the works.
I agree with you, about it not being fair to the other person they are dating. Its also not fair to their spouse that might be just looking for a cooling off period.
Personally I wouldn't knowingly date a seperated guy. I'm not much of a casual dater-I wish I could be. Pretty much I'm ok being single and those times that come along where I'm really intrigued by someone I'm all into them. I can figure out pretty early on if this is someone I can be serious about in the long term and if there is a future for us. Pretty much if you are still legally tied to someone else, there can truly never be an us, only a you and them.

Hey T, this is a subject close to my heart. Being in that "limbo" area myself, I had to get real clear, real quick with myself about what separated means and what is right and what is wrong.
For me, it all came down to what God has to say about it. So I focused on the old testament, which states that you should give your spouse a letter of divorce and send them away. To me, that says divorce papers and a change of address! Otherwise, you are committing adultery.
But let me say this, from a spiritual point of few adultery is committed in many ways, not just sexually or in the physical sense. You can commit adultery emotionally and spiritually. So, just speaking for myself, I have to be very clear about where my heart and mind are going. If not, I will end up getting too close to a man that I am attracted to and the next thing I know, I'm going home with no panties on and I have my bra on inside out!!
( don'tcha hate that?!)
So, you are right....separated ain't single. Until signed on the dotted line, you are still legally married. I don't want to date anyone who is "separated" and I won't be dating while I'm "separated" either.

Well, ahem,
If you aren't jumping out of a window, why are the pretty pannies not or or the bra inside out?
LOL.

TECHNICALLY speaking - it's adultery.
this isn't meant to offend, but there's nothing technical about it, if you're married to one person and get down with another, it's adultery. now 2 consenting grown people are gonna do what they wanna do but let's not play with the terms.
just got back inna game and the scenario comes up a lot so this is strictly my preference and opinion. there's no in-betweeen category, you're married or not married. up front in my profile it says husbands, boyfriends, cheaters and other "complicated" dudes - keep it pressin, i promise with a capital P that i don't care about your story cuz i feel like this here a) you'll still like me after the papers are signed and b) if you haven't been apart long enough to sign em, you not ready for this jelly yet.
Would you break up with a seperated mofo that presented themselves as single then had to 'clarify' with you later?
background checks are $19.95 divorce (the fact that it exists not nec the details of it) is a matter of public record so if i find out that there's a mrs. ninja before he tells me, we're done if over nothing else, the lie.
